RESTORATION

1. The glorious revolution was the Revolution of the year 1688 which was sometimes called the bloodless revolution which was the overthrow of king james II of england. this was a period where many people started relying on science and not the religion point of view for things. not heeding and relying on religion led to many battles between the Catholics and the protestants because of the two sides being seperated between religion and science.

2. satire is the use of sarcasm to someone and to put them down as in lowering their self - esteem; making them feel bad especially if your ridiculing them.

3.The story "A modest proposal" is a very interesting one the Author talks about the children on the streets begging because they have no food or clothes. johnathan swift comes up with a proposal for the children between the ages one and six because he thinks children at this age is considered worthless because they are unable to work and do any thing useful to make a living or money. the proposal that he imposes is to sell the children fo rfood so that the adults can eat which he calls juicy meat. johnathan feels that this a great idea and that some American acquaintance has asured him that it is. "I have been assured" says johnathan swift "by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout". this is a work of satire because at the end of the story the Author says he has no intensions of doing this and basically he was putting them down tellng how he feels about them.

4.the story that i chose to read was "from A Journal of the Plague Year" by Daniel Defoe it talked about many of the people in the city getting sick and not realizing it until about two weeks and then their almost dead. the author in the story walks through the town and hears people screaming at the top of their lungs as though someone is killing them because the pain is severe and very intense.

5. the people living in this time had it very hard with sicknesses because their wasn't advanced medicines nor much experienced doctors to handle the sick as in todays society. many people had it hard and it was very hard to cure the fevers and the colds the people in the town had and they only had one doctor and many of of the people in the town wre left to die because of it.
