Romantic and Victorian Poetry

1. before the romantic period began in 1798 two young men who were living in the southwestern part of england sold some of their poems so that they could be able to get out of England and go to germany. both of the young men had published books of poems that were and are still today considered great poetry and their poems were the beginning of romantic period because both the poets works were among the most important poems in english literature. begining in America in1776 an age of revolution swpt across western europe, causing political, economic, and social forces that produced, during the next century, some of the most radical changes ever experienced in human life. the american evolution lost for england the thirteen colonies in north America, this was a great loss of prestige and of confidence.

2. in the time of the romantic period normal people i think were having it pretty easy i think they were respected but not like the rich were. the rich were on top owned alot of things and had power over alot of things and also authority. normal did what they could to
survive and overcome and thats how the two young men sold their poetry to take a ttrip to germany.

3. in the romantics work they wanted to express their own conception of nature, which might be called pychological. they were intrigued by the fact that nature and the human mind always act upon each other. Romantics were natue poets because they were "mind poets". They were fascinated by by the "how" problems of thought and feeling. the three qualities of romantic poetry are: Love, Emotions, and Analogies.

What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hammer? What the chain?

this poem describes the features of the tiger and how his frame is a fearful mystery. the poet williams talks about every detail of the tiger using adgetives. william is refering the tiger to the devil because of all the evil descriptive wors that he uses.

the poem "Itraveled among unknown men" by william wordsworth talks about walking in a strange place and not knowing anyone but loving everyone who is there. William talks about a young lady who he likes and loves the way she played at the bowers and loves everyone in the town.

in the poem "Stanzas for music " by Lord George Gordon Byron his poem talks about a female singing, how sweet it is to hear her voice the softness of it that even a baby can sleep through it, the beauty of her looks of how she gleams forth like no other.

Percy Bysshe Shelley has a great poem called "time" she talks about how the ocean has been there for so long and is still there. for many years and it's still there and maybe will not ever go away.
